The star has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to preserve the Britain's grassroots music venues.

The star was awarded the award on 16 October as his latest record the album was named the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"I personally wouldn't be doing this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I played around the area, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, top acts including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits local stages.

Sam Fender also participated, collecting over £100k on his live tour to help thirty-eight grassroots venues across the UK.

The donation supported venues that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues stemming from water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and sound issues.

Some locations received monetary aid in modernizing amenities and technical equipment that directly benefitted musicians and audiences.

"The notion that money from concerts in large arenas backs the smaller venues, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

Recently, the trust revealed it had saved several local spots in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.
